NDMA Conducts First-Ever INSaR Multi-Hazard Simulation Exercise
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) conducted its first Integrated National Search and Rescue (INSaR) Multi-Hazard Simulation Exercise at the National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC), aimed at strengthening disaster response through improved coordination and integration.
The exercise utilized advanced weather forecasting, satellite data, and real-time monitoring to develop predictive hazard scenarios, marking a shift from reactive to anticipatory response.
Held under the INSaR framework, the SimEx brought together key stakeholders including PDMAs, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, Armed Forces, and humanitarian organizations.
Scenarios included GLOF in Gilgit-Baltistan, widespread flooding, and a major earthquake in Islamabad and Muzaffarabad, based on NEOC’s DEW-2 system. Participants demonstrated coordinated response, real-time information sharing, and unified command.
Chairman NDMA, Lt. Gen. Inam Haider Malik, highlighted the importance of predictive analytics in minimizing disaster impacts. Participants appreciated the initiative, while NDMA reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening early warning and disaster preparedness systems.
